Contract lifecycle management

Contract lifecycle management software without the six month rollout

Contract lifecycle management software runs an agreement through every stage in one place: request, draft, negotiation, approval, signature, storage, obligations and renewal. Signee is CLM software that covers all of these stages, sets up in an afternoon without consultants, and keeps the history of each contract in a single record.

  • Draft from a template or one sentence
  • Approval rules before anything is sent
  • Signature with audit trail certificate
  • Dates and renewals tracked after signing

What the lifecycle of a contract actually looks like

A contract does not end at the signature. It starts as a request from sales or procurement, becomes a draft, goes back and forth with the other side, needs a yes from finance or legal, gets signed, and then quietly carries obligations and deadlines for months or years. Most teams handle each of those stages in a different tool, and the record of what happened is split across inboxes, shared drives and calendars.

Contract lifecycle management, usually shortened to CLM, means keeping all of those stages attached to one record. Signee is contract management software built around that record. The draft, every version, every approval decision, the signed PDF, the audit trail and the extracted dates all live on the same agreement page, so anyone with access can answer the question what did we agree and when does it end without hunting for files.

The approval stage is where many deals stall. With contract workflow software rules inside Signee, a discount above your threshold or a changed liability clause routes the draft to the right person automatically, and sending stays locked until every step is approved.

One record

Each stage of the lifecycle in Signee

The stages below are the same whether you send three agreements a month or three hundred. What changes between plans is volume and how much is automated.

  1. 1

    Request and draft

Start from your template with variables, or describe the deal in one sentence and let AI write the first draft.

  2. 2

    Negotiate

Edit clauses, keep every version and see what changed before anything goes out.

  3. 3

    Approve

Rules by value, discount or clause change send the draft to the right approver chain.

  4. 4

    Sign and store

Signing order, reminders and expiry, then the sealed PDF is filed with its audit certificate.

  5. 5

    Track and renew

Start, end, renewal and notice dates are read from the text and alerts go to the owner.

Why CLM rollouts usually take months

Traditional CLM suites are sold through a sales process, priced on request and configured by an implementation partner. Before anyone sends a contract, the team maps approval matrices, migrates templates, builds integrations and trains users. For a legal department of twenty people that investment can make sense. For a sales team that needs order forms signed this week, it is usually more process than the problem requires.

Signee takes the opposite approach. You create an account, upload or pick templates, add approval rules in a form, and send the first agreement the same day. Plans are flat with users included, so adding the finance lead as an approver does not trigger a new seat negotiation. If you run a smaller team, the page on contract management software for small business shows what the Starter plan covers on its own.

After signature the record keeps working. Every signed agreement lands in contract repository software with parties, value and key dates already filled in, and on Business and Company plans AI also lists obligations such as payment terms, service levels and deliverables. That is the part of the lifecycle where AI contract management software saves the most time, because nobody has to read a 20 page agreement again to find the notice period.

Contract lifecycle management questions

What is the difference between CLM and e-signature
An e-signature tool covers one stage, collecting signatures on a finished document. CLM covers the stages before and after it as well, from drafting and approval to storage, obligations and renewal.
How long does it take to set up Signee as a CLM
You can send a first agreement on the day you sign up. Add your templates, set approval rules and invite approvers. There is no implementation project and no sales call.
Which plan includes approval rules
Internal approvals by value, discount or clause change are part of the Business and Company plans. Starter covers drafting, signature, the repository and renewal alerts by email.
Can I bring in contracts signed before Signee
Yes, on the Company plan. It includes 500 contract imports per month, and AI extracts parties, dates and terms from each imported agreement into the repository.
Does Signee replace our lawyers
No. Signee manages the process around your agreements and drafts from templates, which are not legal advice. Signee is not a law firm, and high value or unusual deals should still be reviewed by a lawyer.
Is pricing per user
No. Each plan includes a set number of users, 3 on Starter, 10 on Business and 30 on Company, plus monthly limits on documents sent and AI drafts.
