Agreement workflow
Contract workflow software with approval rules
Contract workflow software moves an agreement from draft to signature along rules you set once. Signee checks each contract for its value, discount and changed clauses, sends it to the right approvers in order, unlocks sending only when every step is approved, and then runs follow up actions after the last signature.
- Approval rules by value, discount or clause
- Approver chains in a fixed order
- Sending locked until approved
- Actions after signature, such as CRM updates

Where contracts really stall
Most delays are not in the signature. They happen before it, when a sales rep sends a draft to finance in one email, to legal in another, and waits. Nobody knows who has the latest version, the discount was approved in a chat message that cannot be found later, and the customer asks why the paperwork takes a week.
Signee is contract management software that puts these steps in one place. Approval rules live next to the template, approvers get a link to the exact version under review, and the contract cannot be sent until the chain is complete. Every decision, with the name and time, goes into the audit trail that is later attached to the signed PDF.
The workflow is not limited to approvals. If you already generate drafts from deal data with our contract automation software, the same rules apply to every generated contract, so automation does not mean less control.

Rules
Approval rules that match how you sell
Rules are written once by an admin and checked on every contract before it can go out for signature.
By contract value
Send anything above a threshold you choose to finance, and anything above a higher one to the founder or CFO as a second step.
By discount
Compare the price in the contract with the list price in the template and route discounts above your limit to the head of sales.
By clause change
When someone edits a protected clause such as liability, payment terms or governing law, the contract goes to legal before sending.
Approver chains
Set the order of approvers. The next person is asked only when the previous one approves, and a rejection sends the draft back with a comment.
Sending locked
The send button stays disabled until every required approval is in place. No side door, no forwarded PDF.
Decisions on record
Each approval or rejection is stored with name, time and version, and appears in the audit trail certificate.
8.1 Liability cap. Each party's total liability is limited to the fees paid in the prior three months the fees paid in the prior twelve months.
8.2 Exclusions. The cap does not apply to breach of confidentiality or data protection obligations.
11.3 Notice. Notices go to the email addresses on the order form.

From one sentence
Approvers see what changed, not the whole contract again
Legal does not need to reread twenty pages every time a customer edits one sentence. When a draft comes back, Signee shows the difference between versions, marks the clauses that triggered the rule, and keeps the history of who changed what. Our contract redlining software page explains how versions and comments work in detail.
Because the approval belongs to a version, a later edit to a protected clause starts the relevant step again. An approval given on version 2 does not quietly carry over to a version 3 with a new liability cap.
Who approves is your decision
Approvers are people in your workspace. On the Business plan you have 10 users and on Company 30, with roles and permissions on Company so that only admins can edit the rules themselves.
How it works
One workflow from draft to filed contract
-
1
Draft
Start from a template, CRM deal data or one sentence for the AI draft.
-
2
Check rules
Signee reads value, discount and edited clauses and builds the approval chain.
-
3
Approve
Approvers decide in order from a link. Rejections return to the author with a note.
-
4
Sign
Sending unlocks, signers sign in the order you set, reminders run on their own.
-
5
Follow up
After the last signature, the actions you configured run automatically.
What happens after the signature
A signed contract usually starts more work. Someone has to move the deal in the CRM, tell the onboarding team, and make sure billing knows the start date. In Signee these are post signature workflows. You pick a trigger, for example an agreement being signed or declined, and chain actions after it.
Available actions include updating the CRM deal stage in HubSpot, Pipedrive or Salesforce, posting a message to a Slack channel or sending an email, creating a task for a teammate, and calling a webhook in your own system.
The signed agreement is also filed in the repository with its key dates extracted, which is where a workflow tool connects to contract lifecycle management software: the renewal date and notice period are tracked without anyone typing them in.

Which plan includes the workflow
Internal approvals by value, discount or clause change and post signature workflows are part of the Business plan at 149 USD a month, or 74 USD a month billed yearly, with 10 users and 150 documents sent per month. Company at 499 USD a month, or 249 USD billed yearly, adds 30 users, SSO, roles and permissions, a clause library with approved fallbacks, and an exportable audit log.
Starter covers drafting, templates, signing order, reminders and renewal alerts for a small team, but it does not include approval rules. If you only need a second pair of eyes now and then, Starter with a shared template may be enough. If deals regularly carry discounts or edited terms, written rules replace the email chains that slow those deals down.
